Andros Efstathiou was born in Larnaca Cyprus in 1964. He studied at Ridgewood Art Institute 1990-92 and later at New York Studio School 1992-94. He completed his Post Graduate At the Cyprus College of Art in 2003 and also received an MA in Fine Arts from the Northampton University UK in 2004.

In November 2016 he was included in the top 60 international artists to exhibit in New York Arts club by the selection committee comprised of representatives from Sotheby’s, Christies, Gagosian Gallery and Artnet. In October 2017 he was selected by ACAF Brussels to exhibit at the BOZAR Museum of modern art in Brussels.

Andros Efstathiou has also participated in many group exhibitions in Cyprus, including the University of Cyprus Exhibition, the Municipal Gallery of Limassol, the Nicosia Art fair, as well as in group exhibitions in Thessaloniki, Greece, Portico Gallery London and many others. He also represented Cyprus at the Alexandria and Florence Biennales. In 2004 he was invited to present his work as a visiting lecturer at Leeds University.

In June 2013 he caused an international media storm by placing an unauthorized art installation of 20 tombstone plaques outside of the central bank of Cyprus in protest of the European Union and the International Monetary Fund’s imposed austerity on Cyprus.

Work of the artist is included in many public and private collections in Cyprus including the Contemporary Art Collection of the Cyprus Ministry of Education & Culture and abroad in New York, Brussels and Geneva.

Selected works by Efstathiou have been published by Prentice-Hall Publishers in the book Drawing Space Form And Expression (2nd edition). Other publications include Four Touches by En Tipois, Contemporary Cypriot Art, 2004 and Andros Efstathiou Untitled, 2010.
