Stavros Antonopoulos was born in Nicosia, Cyprus in 1962. He studied Fine Arts at the Florence Academy of Fine Arts, Italy from 1981 to 1985. He also studied Fashion Design at Scuola M. Lazzari in Florence, Italy from 1982 to 1984 and Set Design at the Sorbonne University in Paris, France from 1988 to 1990.
In 1987 he was awarded the Premio Internazionale d´arte Moderna in Florence, Italy and the Prix Matisse by the French Embassy in Nicosia. He worked as a stage and costume designer for many theater productions both in Cyprus and Greece. Some of the most important productions are:
